The Vision: Transform the host’s operational warehouse/showroom into an inviting event space for a one night 350 guest cocktail reception to raise funds for a local charity.

The Event: A collection of carpets collaboratively designed by SickKids patient ambassadors and brought to life by local interior design houses, inspired the Moroccan theme for the Made with Care Fundraising Reception. Guests were transported to the North African country from the moment they walked through the desert tent style entrance, draped in warm earth tone fabrics and hanging metal lanterns. Custom designed banquettes made use of existing showroom display platforms, rolls of carpets and hundreds of handmade woven Kilim rugs, accented with authentic Moroccan décor to create cozy seating lounges for guests to take in all the festivities. Belly dancers and exotic music teased the senses, while Moroccan inspired fare, and traditional mint tea completed the full sensory experience. Through the live auction of the custom carpet pieces and the generous support of our guests, funds were raised in support of the Toronto SickKids Foundation’s Marnie’s Studio, an art therapy space that harnesses the power of creativity to improve both physical and emotional outcomes for children receiving care.
